Well - I changed the calendar again for the OE LMC web page. This calendar shows which classes are scheduled for instruction and/or computer use in our library. I was using Google Calendar, which I liked a lot. But there were some frustrations, including:
1. Appearance - when a lot of events were scheduled in one day, the calendar had a jumbled look that was not clear and streamlined.
2. Updating - updating was easy, but there was an extra step involved of logging into my Google account to access the calendar features.
3. Usability - Google Calendar is really easy to learn how to use. However, here's a caveat: it is far too easy to erase multiple calendar entries than it should be.
Now I'm using the Calendar tool embedded within my Novell Groupwise account where I check my e-mail. When I create an event and "post" it, the event automatically appears on the page that my web page calendar link goes to. It's very clean and readable. I am still able to include "extras" such as standards, benchmarks and indicators. I also like that there are several ways to print out the calendar. I have been printing a daily copy to keep up at our front desk for reference. I know I still have more about this feature to learn, but for now I am very pleased with the ease-of-use and the appearance. Check it out by going to this link and choosing Calendar at the top of the page: http://teachers.olatheschools.com/oelibrary/
